Star Gazy Pie Wax Melts

£8.00

Star Gazy Pie is our homage to the fantastical Cornish delicacy of the same name. The eating of this unusual pie is part of a unique Christmas Tradition from Cornwall. Celebrated on the 23rd of December, otherwise known as ‘Tom Bawcock’s Eve,’ the villagers of Mousehole eat festive fish pie with the heads - and sometimes tails, sticking out of the pastry and staring up at the stars. The pie commemorates the legendary 16th century fisherman Tom Bawcock, who saved the people of Mousehole from going hungry over Christmas by braving the stormy seas in his fishing boat and catching enough fish to feed the whole village.

Our pie, though not edible, is a rare treat too! We have hand sculpted 3 magic pilchards and cast them in scented wax. Unlike the fishy aroma of Tom Bawcock’s original pie, our pilchards are scented with wonderfully christmassy spiced pear, frankincense & myrrh. A glorious scent, perfect for the festivities, from Tom Bawcock’s Eve to Christmas Eve and beyond. We may have been found guilty of enjoying this scent in July..its just so luxurious! So pop a magic pilchard on the burner, get the fire going, pour yourself some mulled wine and raise a glass to Tom! Merry Christmas :)
